Hub&Hack was a 5-day ideation contest in which participants innovate ideas and develop software solutions aiming to surpass challenges which fall under this year’s theme of Smart Education. The event began on 27th April, 2022 with an opening ceremony, followed by a training day, an idea-pitching day, and two days of competition until the 1st of May. Hub&Hack started off with a founder's speech from Ko Min Paing and opening remarks from Jake Bell (Code.org) and Ma Saw Marlar Soe (SpaceX Starlink).
Sixteen teams of eighty hackers were identified from various backgrounds and regions including Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyarwaddy, Shan, Kayin, and others. The teams were divided into two levels: junior and senior level, according to age. The teams included mentors, coders, and designers, and the members cooperated to introduce a new software and reach a rewarding solution. Six prominent judges—Ko Ye Myint (Continental Automotive Singapore Pte Ltd), Ko Kyi Zaw Win (Newton Solutions Pte Ltd), and Ko Kaung Zarni Naing (Thate Pan Hub) for junior level, Ko Yan Shin Aung (KMD Institute), Mr. Rio Aquino Dayao (AYDS), and Dr. Myo Thida (VigorZwe) for senior level—evaluated the contestants' work and selected the winners.
On May 6th, 2022, Hub&Hack successfully came to an end with an awarding ceremony hosted at Impact Hub Yangon, our venue sponsor. A total of eight prizes and congratulatory certificates were handed out to the winners and participants following the thank you-speeches from the representatives of Thate Pan Hub. The following are Hub&Hack 2022’s winners and runners-up.
A prize pool of 1,700,000 MMK and discount vouchers for Thate Pan Institute were awarded to the winners and runner ups.
Thate Pan Hub and Thate Pan Institute are delighted to have achieved the goal of assisting Myanmar's young learners in developing their creativity and skill sets as they enter the tech industry.
